I have a thought provocating discussion this afternoon with my gfs over lunch. Two of them happen to work in jap firms and they were complaining that the career progression is slow and that all the managers are male.

I do feel that this is the case in some companies and even industry, as I have seen over the past 5 years working. Somehow, I still feel that we are not given fair grounds to compete still. What do you all think?

Its like that. We are always capped in some companies no matter how hard you work. Yet there are other companies who constantly seek to allow us to move up through the ranks, but of course, they are far and few... sad fact of life.. but this means that we must even do more to prove ourselves!

Equal opportunity is abound. I think girls are given better opportunities now, so I have no complains on this. ANything more and we will be like treating the guys unfairly (personal beliefs, dont flame me for this).
